The right shade

Depending on the color of the skin: Skin is divided into two main categories: ‘warm’ and ‘cold’.

  • The cold ones are those that have pink tones and the veins are light blue. The shades of red that suit them are the cool ones, that is, those that have a subtle blue tone (wine or cherry red). People with very pale pink skin are best to avoid reddish brown and cherry shades. Vibrant cherries create a contrast with pink skin tones making the lips look pop. It’s important to keep the rest of the makeup low-key, with subtle blush, a little black eyeliner and mascara.
  • Warm complexions are those that have yellow tones that we usually call translucent and their veins are more towards green. Their veins are green in color. The shades of red that are suggested are the warm ones, that is, those that have a subtle yellow tone and go to orange or coral. When they contain a tone of blue they help the teeth look whiter and the parcel less pale. Women with a wheatish complexion can wear the very dark lipsticks that create the bitten lips effect.

Depending on the color of the teeth: Bright lipsticks are more suitable for white and shiny teeth. But if lips or teeth are not our strong point, a shiny nude lipstick or lip gloss with bold eye makeup is the best choice.

Depending on the color of the hair:

  • If we have dark hair and dark skin we can successfully wear most of the bright colors (red, fuchsia, coral) as long as we keep the rest of the makeup simple.
  • If the skin is pale, we warm it up by choosing peach, pink or warm red shades.
  • If the hair is very blonde, a particularly bright lipstick will make too much contrast and add years. We prefer soft lipsticks and more intense eye makeup.
  • If the hair has a darker blonde shade, then we are the ideal case for real red lipstick. Those who avoid it can go for fuchsia.
  • Redheads can try a wide range of shades such as red, brick red, apricot, nude and pink-brown.
