Hair transplantation with precision and success

The method of hair transplantation FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) ensures rich hair growth with natural results.

Hair transplantation is done by extraction of individual hair follicles from the donor area, that is, the area of the scalp where the hair grows healthy, usually at the back of the head. The hair follicles are implanted in the areas of alopecia giving the result of natural hair growth which is now permanent.

– What’s the procedure?

The surgeon starts by cleaning the area where the hair follicles will be extracted and administering local anaesthesia with injections so that the technique is painless. Then it removes hair follicles by making hundreds or thousands of microscopic punctures. If the Strip method is chosen instead of the FUE, the hair follicles are not taken one by one but in strips which are then processed by the surgeon. The hair follicles, usually taken from the back of the head, are placed at the points where there is thinning. Here again there is local anaesthesia. The surgeon opens tiny holes with a scalpel or needle at the implantation area and places the hair follicles in them. During a single session it can transplant hundreds, even thousands of hairs.

– How long does the session last?

It usually takes 4 hours though, depending on the incident, the hair growth and the desired effect.

– How will I look after the placement?

After surgery, the scalp is covered with bandages. To avoid complications, the patient receives preventive medication with antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and painkillers. The stitches are cut after 10 days. Implanted hair falls out two to three weeks after placement, but this is normal. Most people see new hair growth 8 to 12 months after surgery.

Hair transplantation in Tzouma Clinic gives permanent and definitive results – In the implanted hair follicles, the hair grows normally, just as it did when they were in the donor area where they came from

– How am I supposed to take care of my hair?

Our clinic monitors every incident constantly and free of charge for 12 months after the hair transplantation. Doctors give instructions for specialised scalp care, cleansing and preparations that will maximise the result of the procedure.

– How many applications are needed?

Usually an application is enough for a satisfactory result. However, if the patient wants richer hair, it may take 3 or 4 repetitions. The interval between them is 4 to 6 months, which is necessary to allow the operated areas to fully heal.

– How long do the results last?

Hair transplantation at Tzouma Clinic gives permanent and definitive results. In the implanted hair follicles, the hairs develop normally, just as they did when they were in the donor area where they came from. These hair follicles behave as they always have. Only if their health is disturbed by a new dysfunction, their capillary action will change.

– FUE or Strip?

The partners of Tzouma Clinic have 100% success in hair transplantation with both methods. The choice of the appropriate technique is made in consultation with the patient, taking into account his/her needs and wishes. In general, Strip is shorter in duration and cheaper than the FUE, but it is also more invasive.
